THE CHALLENGE
Structure and coordenate the UX team.

The company was experiencing fast growth - of clients and teams. So our solution (a tax automation software) needed more attention to the details and specially to users’ experience. But there wasn't a person or team responsible for that.
Therefore, I talked to Dootax's founders and presented a pitch to build a UX Design team, that would be responsible for bringing improvements to the system and processes that impacted clients. In 2020, I was nominated to create this team, but first I had to show the real value of UX for the business. So I ended up working by myself until late 2021, when I was able to hire a junior UX Designer and to mentor him.
PROJECTS AND RESULTS
In late 2021, I was also involved on the redesign of our software, that had the same interface since 2018. Along with marketing and front-end development teams, we had a weekly agenda to decide our next steps, metrics and goals. While I was working in this project, we could restructure company's styleguide to match the new branding defined by marketing team.

Blocks & difficulties
Low UX and Design maturity
Because it was a new area, I had some difficulty on introducing the theme within the product and tech teams. Before this, all of the process and software flows were built by the dev team, that did'nt bring any user experience vision to the projects. Becaus of that, when I tried to improve and apply some changes on our routine, I foun it difficult to fin support by POs and product specialists. The solution was to make litte improvements that showed positive impact soon. That way, I could show UX value to the company and inside the solutuion.
Low seniority and strategic vision (me)
This was my first experience as a UX Designer, so I still didn't have a very strategic vision about process and projects on the begining. Also, I wasn't having help from a more experienced Designer, like a senior. That's why all of the process and projects were being tested on practice. After some time, with a better UX background (and a lot of study and networking with other designers), I felt that I was more prepared and confident as a designer to try out new methodologies and work on my pitch to the product team.
